We built this website as a tool to share with other teachers our passion: dance. Both of us have been involved in dance since an early age, and as teachers, we really want to share the possibilities of using dance in the classroom. Dance as an art form is wonderful, dance as a learning tool is even better. We have focused on bringing dance into the Social Studies curriculum. Together, we’ve created a number of cultural Social Studies lessons that can easily incorporate dance so that students discover a new mode of learning, and a new way to express themselves. It is our hope that teachers everywhere learn to embrace dance and welcome it into their classroom as a prominent learning tool so that students may expand and grow as learners, and become more open-minded, accepting, and caring individuals. Dance channels emotions, opinions, and inner connections in ways that writing or speaking sometimes cannot. Dance is a gateway to what the mind might not be able to express in any other way, and we want to give our students every possible opportunity to express themselves.
"Dancing in all its forms cannot be excluded from the curriculum of all noble education;
dancing with the feet, with ideas, with words, and, need I add that one must also be able
to dance with the pen?"
~Friedrich Nietzsche
